My Fantasy Baseball Draft Results

Yesterday was my annual Fantasy Baseball Draft. I am an 8 player league where we have 5 hitting stats (AVG, HR, RBI, R, SB) and 5 pitching Stats (W, S, K, ERA, WHIP). I had the 5th pick overall. Below is how I drafted and after that is my brothers team for a comparison. To the side of each pick, are my thoughts on the selection a day later: At the end of the season, I will look back on my picks and see where I went wrong or right.

Round #: Pick #: Player
.(5) Grady Sizemore (he had a 30/30 season last year, I am hoping for 40/40)

.(12) Tim Lincecum (Best Pitcher In Baseball in a bad hitting division, I am only worried he pitched too much last year)

.(21) Carlos Beltrán (a 5 tool guy, in a good line up)

.(28) Russell Martin ( I maybe picked him too high, but the rest of the catchers left all sucked at this point)

.(37) Matt Holliday (Great hitter, but I admit that I am worried how much his stats will drop away from Coors)

.(44) Aramis Ramírez (This guy is always around .300 25 100)

.(53) David Ortiz (If he is healthy, and Bay/Drew/Lowell, hit behind him, this will be a steal)

.(60) Adam Dunn (bad average, but he averages about 40HR a year, I just hope he want have an off year now that he has a big contract)

.(69) Jon Lester (I think he can win 20 with an ERA under 3.)

.(76) Cliff Lee (If I get 08 Lee, this is a steal. If I get 07 Lee, this is a bust. I am guessing somewhere in the middle but closer to 08)

.(85) Michael Young (the best SS on the board at the time. I would not be surprised if a team trades for him mid-season)

.(92) Robinson Canó (I needed a 2B, and had to settle for inconsistent Yankee)

.(101) Jermaine Dye (He is getting old, but still has power)

.(108) Chris Young (an odd player, 30/30 potential because of power and speed, but hits around .240.)

.(117) Bengie Molina (some decent pop for a catcher)

.(124) Carlos Zambrano ( Looking bad, I don't like this pick. He has the stuff, but he is just frustrating, I might try to trade him or find a replacement on the waiver wire)

.(133) Mike Aviles (Talented young KC shortstop. I have big hopes)

.(140) David Price (depending on how long he is in the minors, I may have to drop him for someone who is actually playing, that being said, the dude has great stuff)

.(149) Carlos Guillén (decent back up 1b and 3b)

.(156) Brandon Morrow (Seattle's New closer, I don't care to much about bullpen so this guy just fills the roster spot)

.(165) Hideki Okajima (I know I am not going to wins saves anyway, but went with Oki because he won't fuck up my ERA and might get a win here and there)

.(172) Mike Lowell (if his hip is O.K., this could have been a steal)

.(181) Jed Lowrie (might have to drop him if Lugo actually comes back and they let him play)

.(188 )Shin-Soo Choo (another guy I have high hopes for. He put up great numbers during half a season with the Indians last year and could be a break out star for South Korea baseball)

.(197) Paul Konerko (old, but still has some power left hopefully)
