Shut Down The Globe
I am a news junkie: Sports, Politics, Business, Movies, Music, Local Issues, I try my best to stay on top of everything. So why do I want to see the Globe shut down? Well, I don't. Let me explain. I go to Boston.com a few times a day and now and then still read the dead tree version of the Globe. I am curious as to what would happen to me and the general Boston area if the NY Times went through with its threat and shut down the Globe for a period of time. Would I feel like my quest for news was not being filled or would I just go to other new outlets for information? Would important local issues not get covered, or would other outlets pick up the slack? I don't want to see the Globe shut down for good, but if it where shut down for lets say a month or so, I think the general public and even the people who run the Globe themselves could get a clearer picture of what value they actually provide the public and where they can actually make money in order to streamline what they do.
