Despite his 2 bad starts, I am not too worried about Lester. I think he is still just working out the kinks early in the year as many pitchers appear to be doing. However, I am worried about the line up. The Hallmark of our team this decade has been grinding pitchers, and it does not seem this line up has that philosophy. Way too many people are swinging early in the count. Nearly all our runs this year have been scored on home runs and we have not had one inning all year when we have put a long string of hits together. Without Manny and with Ortiz getting older we do not have the power we once did, but even when Manny and Ortiz where at their peek we did not rely on the home run. In the past we had enough patient hitters in our line up that I think that patients spread to everyone else. Now it is the reverse. We have more impatient hitters and it seems like it is spreading. We need to have a team meeting or something to get everyone back on the Moneyball page.
