The Season Saved By A Knuckle

It sounds crazy, that a pitcher could have a huge start when less then 10 games have been played, but that is what Wakefield had this afternoon. The Sox line up has been anemic for most of the year and are strength the pitching staff has looked mediocre and in Dice-K's case hurt. If Wakefield, had gotten shelled today after the Sox bull pen being used up only a few hours before, it would have been demoralizing. But, That did not happen. Wakefield came in with a complete gain. Not only that, but dude had a no-hitter through 7 adding some munch needed excitement to the young season for Sox fans. I know he will have some bad starts this year and at times I will wish that we had a more traditional pitcher in his slot, but  games like today and what he has done over the 14 years are going to put Wakefield in the Pantheon of all time Red Sox when it is all said in done.
