Thoughts On Tonights Boston Sports Triplay
First off, get well Jerry Remy.
I watched the Bruins more then the other 2 games tonight and it was easily the most frustrating game. The Bruins where terrible in the face off circle especially in their own zone. This led to the Canes keeping a lot of pressure in the attack zone with the Bruins running around trying to chase them. What compounded the problem, was that when the Bruins did get the puck away from the Canes, their clearing attempts or passes where weak and in dumb directions. Two of the Canes goals tonight where because of plays like that. In the second period, Montador had a big wind up for a slap out of the zone but fanned on it causing the puck to head right over to the Canes best player Staal who promptly took a great shot for a goal. In the overtime, Chara pushed a weak clearing attempt along the boards which the Canes intercepted, fired at the net, and Jokinen put into the back of the net on the rebound. Unless, the Bruins win some more face offs and make good passes/clears out of the zone, they are not going to be able to have any offense because they game will be played in their end of the ice.
I am pretty confident the Celtics are going to win this series and my confidence was justified tonight. Howard is a great physical presence, but I would not call him a great basketball player especially on offense. His moves in the paint are clunky at best so that forces the Magic to rely too much on their assortment of outside shooters who as a whole are nothing special. The Celtics defense is strong enough to keep their shots contested. On offense, the Celtics just need one other guy besides the current big 3 of Rondo, Allen, and Pierce to do something. Tonight, that guy was Eddie House who was draining 3s along with everything else the entire night.
I did not catch that much of the Sox game, but early in the came we did not capitalize when we had Pavano on the ropes partially due to the fact that a 1/3 of our line up might as well be Paw Sox players.
