5 Thoughts On A Sunday Morning

  1. I learned my lesson buying into the Cavs hype. Many basketball commentators (like Bill Simmons) pretty much proclaimed  Lebron and the Cavs  the Championship or at the very least the winners of the east before they playoffs started. Initially, I thought they where wrong but I ended up buying into the hype and not being too upset when the Celtics lost to the Magic because there was no way they where beating Cleveland. The questions I had about the Cavs where all symbolized by Delante West. I like Delante West; he is by most accounts a good guy who gets the most out of his abilities. That being said, he is not a key part of a Championship team. If he was on the current Celtics Roster, he would be coming off the Bench fighting for minutes with Eddie House. The fact that West was a key part of the Cavs team highlighted the lack of talent they had besides Lebron. The Celtics took the Magic to 7. The Cavs lost to them in 6. I know every series is different, but that at least means that the Celtics had a shot at beating the Cavs. Needless to say to the Magic, BEAT LA.
  2. Speaking of the Magic, I remember back when I was in Elementary School, everyone thought with Shaq and Penny Hardaway that the Magic where going to dominate the rest of the decade. Because of all his injuries that caused him to spend the second half of his career in a suit on the bench, people forget how good Penny was and how big of a star he was. Remember the Lil Penny commercials with Chris Rock doing the voice? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzYW-6EF99M   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgPNj3CFpC8&feature=PlayList&p=2CFF5DE7FDC22201&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=34   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URNwiRPQf1A or even the No Diggity Black Street Video based off of the Lil Penny puppet commercials: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq0zUJCl9Qs
  3. I would hate for this to be the match up, but how would the MLB react if the Yankees played the Dodgers in the World Series? In some respects it would be great because it would most likely give them  big ratings? But how would fox promote it? A-Rod leads the Yankees against Manny and the Dodgers? Me thinks the MLB might be skittish for a tagline like that.
  4. Second Base is the new Short Stop: Look at all the good young 2B men in the MLB right now:
Dustin Pedroia, Ian KinslerAaron Hill, Brandon Phillips, Dan Uggla, Chase Utley, Robinson Canó, Alexei Ramírez just to name a few.
  5. It is hard to find on the dial, but if you a hip hop fan in Boston, it is worth listening to Touch 106.1 FM. http://www.touchfm.org/
