All We Need This Year Is Medium Papi
The Sox beat the Yankees tonight to tie them for the division lead and go 6-0 against them this season. In an encouraging sign, Ortiz started off the scoring with a 2 run HR and now has a 7 game hitting streak. I don't think that his recent up tick in hitting is a sign that the Old Big Papi is coming back. However, we don't need the old Big Papi that hit 45HR with 140RBI and carried the team. Youk, Bay, and Pedroia are in their prime right now and can do the heavy lifting. Papi hitting below the Mendoza Line with little power for the rest of the year would not be acceptable though even with the other batters having good years. What we need is Medium Papi; a guy who can hit 6th in the order, bat between .250 and .275, and pop around 20HRs. If Papi can continue to improve like he has recently and become Medium Papi, I think our line up will be fine and we can focus on making a trade to get a defensive short stop.
A few other thoughts about tonights game. The Sox did a great job making a wild Burnett work. Beckett continued his run of great starts and would of had a no-hitter going into the 6th if Pedroia finished that great stop he made of Cano's grounder. A Nelson Munks Ha Ha to A-Rod for his double clutch era. Lets not forget Drew's key 2 run double off the wall early in the game. I wish Drew went opposite field off of the wall more often. Jason Bay was plunked tonight by Veras which makes it 9 Sox batters and 2 Yankee batters plunked this year. As Eck pointed out in the broadcast that is far from even.

I decided a little while ago to do what I can to make sure that what little privacy I have left is completely in my control.
