Prediction: Dice-K Back To D.L.

The Sox continued to roll last night winning 5 straight against 2 teams that are World Series Contenders. (NYY and Philly) The bad news is that Dice-K had another bad night. You could try to excuse him by saying the rain delay messed him up, but that does not explain the rest of his starts this year. I think something is physically wrong with Dice-K. He even kind of hinted at that to reporters last night. I know some in Red Sox nation have always hated Dice-K's high pitch count style but it has never bothered me that much because while he walked a shit load of guys and threw tons of pitches, in his first 2 seasons people rarely hit him hard or got really good swings against him. Thus, those classic Dice-K lines of 6 innings, 5 walks, 2 hits, 1 run where he would end up with the win. It was not as ideal as him pitching 7 or 8 innings, but I will take his what he did the last 2 years from my number 3 pitcher. This year is different though. People are hitting him and they are hitting him hard. In addition, his stuff just does not seem as good. I don't know if it is because of the WBC, the adjustments from Japanese to American pitching routines, or just normal pitcher wear and tear, but I think there is something wrong with him and I am pretty sure when Smoltz comes up there are going to put Dice-K on the D.L.
