Above is a link to a video I took of the band Mean Creek performing the song "Face Of The Earth" off of their new album The Sky (Or The Underground) at their album release party at The Middle East Downstairs last night. Mean Creek performed a great set last night that rocked much harder than they do on record where their sound is a little more folkier. Mean Creek has a pretty original sound but if I was forced to describe them, I would have to go with 1/3 Arcade Fire, 1/3 Tom Petty, and 1/3 Fleet Foxes. Not only that, but they are the first legit band to come out of my hometown (Watertown, MA) in ages. Usually the ceiling of bands from here is playing at AsianaFusian and now and then you have a modest breakout like Endway that can tour pretty well and get exposure. But, Mean Creek has the chops and songs to be one of those bands like the aforementioned Fleet Foxes that hits the Blogosphere buzz and really take off.
