NFL Predictions

In the past, I have made predictions for every team, but I got a ton of reading to do for class so fuck it I am going to only talk about the teams I think are going to make the playoffs and maybe a couple of other interesting ones. Lets start off with the NFC. The NFC is like the N.L. in baseball. Both leagues are a lot weaker as a whole than their counterparts the AFC and the A.L., but we have to pay attention to them because they have an automatic bid  to the Super Bowl and shit happens and sometimes they can even win. I really like the Vikings because they have a good D and a great running game, and thought considered them to make the Super Bowl, but there is just one little problem and his name is Brett Favre. I think he will be decent enough in the regular season for them to take the NFC North, but he is going to fuck up in the playoffs and ruin some game where Peterson runs for 180 yards by tossing 3 interceptions that get run back for TDs and Peterson will punch him in the face. The Cowboys will self-destruct completely under Phillips this year and they might possible been literally crushed when their giant scoreboard falls on them in the middle of the field after a punt dislodges the entire thing. The Giants and Eagles will battle it out for that division and both make the playoffs and I will go with Eagles actually taking the division. In the NFC south which is god fucking awful, I will have to go with Fitzgerald and Arizona by default. After last year's melt down in the Playoffs I see the Panthers only going 8-8 this year, and Tampa holding steady at 9-7 to make it as a wild card team. So these are my playoff teams in the NFC:
NFC East: Eagles  (Giants as the Wild Card)
NFC North: Vikings
NFC West: Cardinals
NFC South: Falcons (Tampa Wild Card)
I have not talked about the Falcons yet and that is because I think they are going to make it to the Super Bowl for their side beating the Eagles in the NFC Championship. (I am picking the Eagles to make it and lose in the NFC Championship because that is what they do) Ryan impressed me in his rookie year and I see no reason why he should not get better in his second year especially with the addition of TE Gonzales as additional safety net target for him. Throw in the fact that they have a good O-Line and Turner is one of the best backs in the league and I think they will have the best offense in the NFC and a defense that is good enough to hold other teams down.

Not lets get to the AFC. The Patriots, Colts, Chargers, and Pittsburgh are going to make the playoffs because they just have more talent than everyone else. The Titans defense and running game are still very good so I think they will make it to the playoffs and lose like they always do because Jeff Fisher is the new Marty Schottenheimer but no one wants to admit it. That leave one more playoff team. I don't think it will be Miami because the Wild Cat gimmick will not work a second year. The Jets are a pretty good team overall, but Sanchez will make too many mistakes for them to make the playoffs so they will most likely be 9-7 or so. The Bills are a joke. I think I have to be boring and pick the Ravens which leaves us with the same exact AFC playoff teams as last year. People keep talking about their being parity in the NFL compared to baseball, but while their is a salary cap, some organizations are run well like the Pats, Steelers, and Colts and are consistently good and some organizations are not run well (see Raiders, Oakland) and suck for long periods of time so the NFL instead of creating parity has created an organizational meritocracy.
AFC East: Pats
AFC North: Steelers (Ravens Wild Card)
AFC South: Colts (Titans Wild Card)
AFC West: Chargers
Now for the playoff predictions. The Colts will pull a Colts and find a way to lose a game they have a good chance of winning. As will the Chargers most likely with someone on the team throwing a hissy fit. The Ravens and Titans have great defenses, but I don't think their offenses are good enough. That leaves the Patriots and The Steelers in the AFC title game. If Brady's knee is ok, the Patriots offense is going to put up a ton of points this year. I even like are our 4 running backs this year in Morris, Moroney, Taylor, and Faulk. Galloway is old, but he will manage to make plays with all the focus on Welker and Moss and I do think Edelman will make at least one huge play this year. The biggest question for the Patriots is the defense where there has been a lot of turn over of late. Green is not as good as Seymour, but he is a solid play and the rest of the D-Line is pretty solid so I am not too worried about that. I like our core of linebackers led by the amazing Mayo so I do not seem too many teams running against us. Thus, the entire season is all in the hands of the secondary. They do not need to be amazing, they just can't get burnt too much and I think they will be just good enough this time out. I guess I have to mention the Steelers. We saw in the opening game where Palomalu got hurt (but not too bad) why it is hard to repeat. Sometimes shit does not go right 2 years in a row. Also, the 2 years they won, they did not have to face the Patriots and I don't think they can beat us head to head.
Super Bowl: Pats over Falcons

NFL MVP Matt Ryan
Defensive Player Of The Year: Jerod Mayo
R.O.Y. Knowshon Moreno (RB Broncos)
Coach of The Year: Matt Smith (Falcons)
