Buchholz is The #1 # 3

Even without his best stuff tonight, Clay Buchholz had another very good start (6 innings 1 run) to add to a string of great pitching for the past month and a half. Right now, I would take Buchholz over any other number 3 pitcher. Who is NY's number 3? Either Pettitte who is having arm trouble or Joba who has an era in the mid 4s and is also having his pitch count restricted. Detroit's Porcello is having a pretty good year, but Buchholz has a much higher ceiling and potential to shut down a team. For the Angles it is either Saunders who has an era near 5 or Kazmir has pitch well of late, but has had a bad year overall and never has shown an ability to go deep into games.
