It is still early in the season, but there is an interesting trend going on for Sox starters. Pretty much all the best Sox starts like Dice-K today and Beckett's last two have come with Tek behind the plate. The pitchers era when Salty is back there is around 7 compared to an era under 3 when Tek is catching. Tek has also led the league in "catcher era" 4 times in his career and caught a record 4 no-hitters. I am not saying Salty sucks at calling games (though there is evidence that he might) but he certainly is no Tek.
