Who Sampled It Best?
Lafeyette Afro Rock Band's song "Darkest Light" has been sampled numerous times. Here is a link to the original if you don't know what I am talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZrcteE3hpA
The most famous uses of the sample are as follows:
1. Show Em What You Got by Public Enemy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7MjgcNXZLs
2. Rump Shaker by Wreckx-N-Effect http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKKONgfNONU&feature=related
3. Show Me What You Got by Jay Z: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS4U-HAHwps
4. Dough Is What I Got by Lil Wayne: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Xi2k8uq5GI
I would have to go with Rump Shaker as the song that sampled it best. When one hears the now iconic horn and saxophone sample, I think most people associate it with Rump Shaker more than any other version. Part of the reason is that Rump Shaker is an all time iconic summer song that gets play each year and the other songs that sample it are all by artists Public Enemy, Jay Z, and Lil Wayne that have many like 50 other songs if not more other songs in their discographies that are better the the one that used the "Darkest Light" sample.
