It should be noted that the top 3 degrees on this list of worst paying college degrees are Child and Family Studies, Elementary Education, and Social Work. All 3 are degrees where there is a good chance when you will end up working with young children. Award winning economists like Arthur Rolnick and James Heckman point out how high quality Early Childhood experiences can save money for society in the long run by decreasing special education and incarceration costs and increasing the number of people paying taxes. However, these types of low salary for jobs related to early childhood create a disincentive for people to go into and or stay into those fields which most likely effects the quality of Early Childhood Education Centers and Elementary Schools.

Don't ask me what I have got my degrees in or where I currently work. Lets just say, I fit those top 3 profiles pretty well and probably should have tried to go to law school or something.
